VESTIBULE I

Vestibule is an object of transition— a small portal between what was and what comes next.

Its surface was shaped to echo the weathered texture of sandstone from a beach where I grew up, carrying something of the landscape into a piece meant to be worn and lived in. I find myself settling in from a very transitional time in my life (namely, motherhood), and wanted to create something to symbolize the portal I have stepped through (and really, am continuously stepping through). The open form speaks to the spaces between; between one season of life and another, between versions of ourselves, between where we have been and what we’re becoming. 

An object between places, between selves, between seasons of life.
